Today marks 6 months that we have had to endure living without Rachel. Rachel Amaris Elliott was killed at age 18 by an [alleged] drunk driver. She was killed for nothing by a woman who to cared more about getting drunk on a Wednesday night rather than be a responsible mother to her son and show concern for others innocently driving residential neighborhoods in Southern California.
I'm so sorry about the death of your neice. It was a senseless loss, but her life was not wasted. Thank you for taking the time to spread the word about the dangers of drunk driving. My home state, VA, has recently proposed that random check-points be set up in various areas to catch those driving under the influence. It's been highly debated and viewed by some as a loss of freedom, but I support it 100%. We need to continue to get these people off the road.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely senseless and tragic. My heart and prayers go out to the families affected by this tragedy. I believe that making stiffer penalties for drunken drivers will cause people to think twice before doing. I believe that when a drunk driver kills someone, they should be charged with first-degree intentional homicide. Everyone knows that if you drink and drive you could kill someone or yourself. That being the case, when people drink and drive they know they run the chance of killing someone.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any news links about the crash or the case?
ReplyDeleteHi Tom, there is a "Case Updates" page on her website www.RachelElliott.org. Hopefully we will have more case updates soon. Also, when we feel it is legally safe to do so we will be telling the entire story on her website. Thank you, Lando
